Sherryl Clark has more than 75 published children’s and YA books, including novels, chapter books, picture books and verse novels.
Her first children’s book was The Too-Tight Tutu, one of the first Aussie Bites. Her books have been published in Australia and overseas, including the USA, UK, Spain, Mexico and China, and have received 14 CBCA Notable and Honour awards. Her verse novel, Mina and the Whole World World, won the 2022 Prime Minister’s Award for Children’s Literature, and The Only Branch on the Family Tree won a NZ Notable award in 2026.
Sherryl taught creative writing at Victoria University TAFE in Melbourne for 23 years. She does school visits and workshops, with a particular interest in poetry, and speaks at conferences. After many years in Australia, Sherryl returned home in 2022. She works part-time as a freelance editor and lives in Whangarei.
